Holdings and
specialist collections:
The library is located on the bel étage of the administration building of the Museum für Kommunikation on Frankfurt's Museum Bank (Museumsufer). The Wilhelminian-style villa originally housed the federal post office museum which was enlarged in 1990 by the addition of a modern exhibition building.

The cultural and technical history of the postal system and telecommunications form the chief focus of the holdings, which encompass some 35,000 volumes and 220 magazines. Literature on the history of communication as well as on the relationship between art and communication is also collected. A further noteworthy aspect is the high proportion of grey literature, particular from the area of the former Reich or, later, Federal Post Office Ministry and many post offices.

The affiliated archive contains documents and collectors' items pertaining to the abovementioned areas. They serve as source material for museum-related as well as research-related purposes.
