Frankfurt Museum Libraries About Us

The Frankfurt museum libraries began cataloguing their holdings digitally in 1997. In the interest of standardized registration and administration, the Culture Department of the City of Frankfurt am Main placed the library software Bibliotheca 2000, produced by the BOND Company, at the disposal of all institutes participating in the project. Initially, the ongoing new acquisitions were registered; subsequently the older catalogues were converted and all older holdings not previously catalogued were registered in the new system.

The joint web catalogue of the Frankfurt museum libraries has been available for public use since 2001: this portal permits centralized access to the holdings of the individual specialized member libraries by way of the Internet as well as the City of Frankfurt Intranet.
