Holdings and
specialist collections:
The museum library comprises some 50,000 volumes and 60 subscribed periodicals and annuals. The main focus is on the history of Frankfurt, including everyday life, art and culture throughout the ages. There is also a body of literature relating to the themes addressed in the museum’s collections, most notably on the subjects of numismatics, cultural history, and children’s and youth museums in Germany. Literature on textiles and clothing has been extended to include some 4500 volumes on fashion, traditional dress and costume bequeathed by Eva Larraß, Darmstadt, focusing on the history of European clothing.
